With the second pick of the 2024 MLB draft, the Cincinnati Reds selected Chase Burns out of Wake Forest. In Burns' final year in college, he posted a 2.19 ERA along with 191 strikeouts in only 100 innings. The Reds gave him a $9.25 million signing bonus, which was a record for the largest signing bonus in MLB history.

Starting his professional career in High-A this season, he dominated and pushed himself all the way to Triple-A and only pitched two games at that level before getting called up. He posted an incredible 1.77 ERA in the minors along with a 12.14 K/9 and a 1.77 BB/9. The 22-year-old flamethrower is slated to start on June 24th against the Yankees and will provide an immediate impact in the majors.
