Chicago Cubs rookie starter Cade Horton has been outstanding this season and has lived up to his prospect pedigree. In 2024, he was originally ranked as the 26th prospect in baseball according to MLB.com.

The Cubs are currently 76-55 in large part due to the contributions of many former top prospects Pete Crow-Armstrong and Cade Horton. Horton has pitched to a 2.88 ERA (Earned Run Average) in 17 starts and one bullpen appearance. He has a 3.70 FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching), which helps justify his success. His sweeper has been very effective this season and has induced a .195 opponent batting average.
Horton's strong rookie campaign has given him a solid shot at winning the Rookie of the Year honors in the National League. The Cubs have significantly benefited from his strong season.
