This Yankees Pitcher has been Underrated this Season
In 2024, starter Will Warren was considered the 8th best prospect in the Yankees' farm system. He was called up that season and posted a 10.32 ERA in six games, not an impressive showing to say the least. He was considered as minor league depth before the 2025 season, but he was forced into the rotation after Gerrit Cole underwent Tommy John surgery, ending his season.

Warren's early surface results in rotation were less than promising as he posted a 5.63 ERA (Earned Run Average) in April and a 4.82 in May. He currently has a 4.25 ERA this season. His underlying numbers suggest Warren has been unlucky this season. He currently sports a 3.64 FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) along with a 10.13 K/9. In 26 games started this season, Will Warren has allowed less than 4 runs in 20 out of 26 starts. He's been able to succeed primarily due to the success he's had with the fastball, +20 run value, that has held hitters to a .188 batting average.
Will Warren has been a key piece to the Yankees' rotation as they've dealt with multiple injuries this season. Despite his 4.25 ERA on the season, he's been much better than advertised and will continue to do better as the season progresses.
